Mendicant FriarsTraditionally friars are mendicants (beggars) who rely on the goodwill of others for their support and living. Differing from monks who maintain a high degree of self-sufficiency, friars choose to offer themselves in ministry with others, particularly those living on the margins, and therefore need the support of benefactors for their daily living. Today some brothers need to be employed in order to keep the bills paid but the support of benefactors is still very important in order to be able to maintain the offer of voluntary and unpaid ministry. DonationsThe friary is grateful for donations in both cash and kind which can be mailed to the friary or lodged directly with our bank.
